Example Of Living Will Texas

What is considered Lawful Use of Arms?
I was wondering if someone could define this for me. When is it okay to use a firearm to defend yourself/others/property? …I’ll use an example… If someone is breaking into my car to steal the stereo, can I shoot him? Does the shot have to be below the waist? What if he’s running away? Just trying to get a better idea here. If laws vary by state, I currently live in Utah and will be moving to Texas in a couple years. Thanks!
..this is it.
You can only fire your weapon in self defense of yourself or another person, who is facing serious and immediate bodily injury or death from an attacker. You do not have to retreat inside your own home, but you cannot chase a criminal out of your house and shoot him on the front lawn either.
It’s a very fine line you have to make the decision that your life or the life of another person is in immediate danger. Even if you are in the right legally, it’s going to be a very long process to determine if you were justified in using deadly force.
Not to mention you have to deal with the experience mentally after the fact, for a long time.
