Fellow atheists and free thinkers: How would you respond to a secular “Bible”?
If some energetic and brilliant set of minds combined their talents to write a completely rational book of instructions for living, one that considered all the basic behaviors needed in order to form and keep a harmonious and communal society successfully thriving for prosperity and the betterment of all people, how would you respond to it?
Do you think there will ever come a day when a book based entirely on secular reasoning, documented history and scientifically derived knowledge will ever be written and become popularized to “Bible” proportions?

Hmm. Just possibly.
There are some seriously frightening “self-help” and “re-order your life” books out there already.
Brilliant minds are not always well-balanced ones, and secular fanaticism and monomania is just as possible as the religious form..
Hints, suggestions, the provisional and the tentative…
I tentatively suggest that these are often better guides, rather than definite rules and absolutes.
Too often there are exceptions, and too often we human beings like to grasp at simple answers even when they are inadequate.
“a harmonious and communal society ”
Now there’s a thing.
Can you imagine a circumstance when harmony was bad for the community? I can, without too much trouble.
Examples of “groupthink” spring to mind.
Until utopia occurs, we need a sprinkling of outsiders, dissidents, court jesters: the people prepared speak the unthinkable, and yell out “The Emperor’s got no clothes.”
