Tax return for 2009 for Immigrants. No BS. Serious answers.?
Dear Friends,
I needs to file tax return for 2009. I have my social security number, W 2 form. I have been living in PA and my employer is in MI. I am on student visa in US. How to file tax return online? Staying in seperate state than that of my employer and having a student visa ( I am not citizen) , will allow me to file my tax return online for free.
Only serious answers please. No BS please.

Sorry but since you are on a student visa you are NOT an immigrant. You are a non-resident alien for the first 5 years on a student visa and MUST file an NR series return, either 1040-NR or 1040NR-EZ. Neither of those can be filed electronically, nor does most tax software cover them. You’ll either have to download the instructions from the IRS website and do them by hand or hire someone to prepare them for you.
If you decide to hire someone, seek out someone with several years of experience in non-resident alien tax returns. This is NOT a job for a seasonal over-hire at one of the storefront tax prep mills like Block, Liberty, or Hewitt.
