What document do i need to apply for shengen visa as a family member of an EEA?
I dunno if you can help me with this. I am 20 years old and my dad died after i was born so my mum married a guy in germany and live in UK now. (me and my mum were originally from sri lanka) I have Uk resindence card stating i am a family member of EEA in my sri lankan passport. Now i wanna go to germany on my own to visit few of my friends. So i wanna apply for shengen visa but on the german embassy website it doesnt state what documents i will need it only says what documents the spouse would need. What documents do i need to take with me to the embassy? all i can provide is my passport and my photo and the actual application form and my birth certificate. And also i dont i have to pay a fee for it cuz im family member of an EEA, is that correct?
And also do i need to book an appointment to apply for it?
does it make a difference if i go to the embassy with my stepdad?
A family member doesn’t count for a free Schengen visa – it has to be a spouse. That’s why the German Embassy web site only mentions a spouse.
You need to apply for a visitor visa and get no special privileges. You will also have to pay €60 for it, and you do need to make an appointment and go to the German Embassy to make your application.
You need to take with you:
passport
- visa application form plus a colour face photo
- travel insurance policy covering your visit
- invitation letter from your friend in Germany plus a copy of the data page of their passport, or a copy of the hotel booking if you are staying in a hotel
- evidence that you have enough money to cover your stay, such as a recent bank statement
- evidence of your working status, for example a letter from your employer or recent payslips
plus a photocopy of all of those and enough cash to pay the fee (the German Embassy only accepts cash).
