Non-Parent fighting for custody, pro-bono attorney?
I have a 4 year old nephew who has been living with me since july 1st, his mother let him live with me because she was unable to care for him. We live in a house where he has his own room, she lives with 2 room mates & shares a bed with her & her fiance. She isnt financially stable & has no insurance on him. We are worried about letting him go back to stay with her. I am not sure if our chances in a custody battle are worth fighting for. She recently got arrested for public intox. as well. Who would we contact to fight for custody & is there any lawyers in Houston that do this pro-bono?? Any help or advice would be really appreciated!
She thinks she can take care of him & refuses to agree to let him stay. She just got engaged & is afraid of looking like a bad mother to her friends & his famliy.
His father is a conn who has been in & out of prison every year, he’s seen him once & never paid a dime, he will probablly give up his custody.
