Will the obesity problem ever be solved?
I have serious doubts about the obesity problem ever being solved. Everything we as Americans and other developed countries do is causing us to gain weight. Our lives revolve around food. Whenever there is a celebration we eat lots of food and people eat out several times a week. When we do eat at home, it is so much easier and quicker to cook something that is prepackaged or processed. We don’t move very much because technology does everything for us. Most of us cant walk or bike to work because we live in the suburbs far away from businesses. Who has time for the gym? Who even wants to go to the gym and feel like some lab rat jogging on a wheel going nowhere? Will Americans ever find a way to be at a healthy weight? Even Europe is very quickly following suit with many people becoming overweight over there as well. It is not a matter of laziness or willpower either. It is much deeper than that. A magic drug needs to be made that will block all unneeded fat and calories in the body.
We don’t need a magic drug. We need to teach people it’s okay to take care of themselves, that it’s what they need to do, and that taking care of themselves DOES involve the physical, emotional, and mental…not just work to buy things.
