verizon text messaging?

verizon has free calling inbetween verizon users but is texting between the verizon users free and is it free acrost states i live in illinois and want to text to tennessee and on my account i have the 500 text messages for 10 bucks package will the texting to tennessee cover it? i went on their website but couldnt find any help so if anyone has any ideas or has had this problem please share your knowledge thanks

i would suggest getting the texting package…its free between verizon txt. I had no problem texting my husband when he was out of state…did not change my bill.
