Wedding registry items/ What things should every newlywed have in their first time house?

I am getting married in a few months and I am setting up a wedding registry (at amazon.com). It will be the first time either of us has lived without our parents and we are trying to find some household essentials. What are some things we should NOT go without? I already have a Slow Cooker on the list. Any help will be most appreciated! :)

What fun! I got married just before amazon became such a big site, and I would have loved to be able to use it!

The slow cooker is great. Then think of basic kitchen needs. If either of you likes coffee, you’ll need a coffeemakes. Same with toaster. Then you’d want mixing bowls, serving platters (like chips n dip), cooking utensils (look for a nice set of these, like Kitchen Aide). Waffle iron? Small indoor mini-grill? A pan set (or individual pans). Also, look for some nice everyday salt and pepper shakers. If you make your own salads, get one of those cute oil bottles with a stopper. Oh…and if you like salads, nothing beats a nice wooden salad bowl with tongs.

Then get your everyday stuff – “silverware” and also also glasses and plates. They have a really nice collection. If you have colors picked out, get nice placemats.

Beyond that, you can look through bed and bath stuff. If you have some bathroom colors in mind, look at the matching sets they have (lotion, toothbrush holder, etc). Then put in some towels that go with this scheme. Even a small area rug. In the bedroom look for sheets/pillowcases, bed pillows, tiny reading lamps, etc.
